~MISSION~

The mission of 100 Black Men of the Bay Area Community School (100 BMBACS) is to prepare young men with the skills needed to be leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; and to instill confidence and a sense of responsibility for leading social change.  The educational model of 100 BMBACS supports a life-long commitment to personal excellence, leadership, and service to the community.

 

100 Black Men of the Bay Area is committed to developing an excellent school that effectively nurtures and taps the human potential of every student. Whether you're getting ready for an exam, wondering who can write my essay cheap, or need any other assistance, dedicated experts are at your service. 100 BMBACS will serve as a replicable model and a demonstration school for providing a quality K-12 education for African-American boys and will serve to support the larger education community in its efforts to close the achievement gap for African-American boys.

 

100 Black Men of the Bay Area Community School will enable students to become self-motivated, competent, lifelong learners and leaders in the 21st Century global community by ensuring that all students become proficient in each of the following three areas:

 

  • Academic Knowledge and Critical Thinking
  • College and Career Readiness Skills
  • Principles of Brotherhood and Manhood

    ~THE APPROACH ~

 100 Black Men of the Bay Area Community School is founded on the understanding that learning best occurs in an environment grounded in the following core elements:

 

  1.  RELEVANCE – culturally responsive teaching and learning; culture as a powerful variable that influences teaching and learning processes; cultural legacies of different ethnic groups; culturally responsive information, resources, and materials integrated into all subjects and skills
  2. RIGOR – a culture of high expectations, academic excellence; a standards-based rigorous and relevant curriculum; a wide variety of instructional strategies that are explicitly connected to learning styles and learning strengths instructional methodologies that verifiably engage and increase participation in the learning process.
  3. RELATIONSHIPS – strong, supportive, safe, nurturing and relationship driven school environment that removes barriers to learning and enables all students to thrive; build meaningful bridges between home and school experiences as well as between academic abstractions and socio-cultural realities; teach students to esteem themselves and others regardless of differences.

 

~WHOM THE SCHOOL WILL SERVE~

100 Black Men of the Bay Area Community School (100BMBACS) is a charter school of the Oakland Unified School District. This unique school, which opened in fall 2012, is a STEM leadership academy designed to target the specific needs of African-American boys.Developed by the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, the school functions to counter trends of educational inequity in Oakland, California.  When fully articulated 100BMBACS will serve young men in grades K-12.  In fall 2013, the school will serve grades K, 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7.
